In June 2003, after Kenneth Bates agreed to sell Chelsea, Russian tycoon Roman Abramovich descended on Stamford Bridge. Since then, Chelsea has changed drastically, winning other honours such as the Premier League and the Champions League.

He was loaned to Charlton in the 2003-2004 season and to Charlton in 2005-2006, and then sold to Dynamo Moscow for 1.5 million euros.
